Dinner time

Tonight we had a winner of a dinner. It is a rare occurrence that everyone in the whole family likes dinner, but tonight's dinner of chicken sausages, saurkraut, asparagus, and roasted beets, potatoes, and sweet potatoes everyone liked. Lili went back for 4ths (I think she might be going through a growth spurt!)

Haiku

We are studying the country of Japan in depth this semester, and today we learned about haikus and the well-loved Japanese poet Basho. We next went outside in nature and then wrote a haiku about our experience (and then a picture to accompany the poem.) Here is Lili's:

Seo's first day of farm school

We made a last minute desicion to switch Seo from the EH preschool program to join Lili at farm school. We talked with Lili first, not sure how she would feel about sharing her special place with her brother.  But she met our concerns with pure excitement and joy at the prospect of Seo joining in. He was feeling excited, silly (nervous) and proud this morning. Lili immediately grabbed his hand as we got out of the car, and she was still holding it when I said goodbye.

Dinosaur day

Today was our first day of the semester for homeschool. We did some phonics and math work and then read an article in Lili's National Geographic magazine about a newly discovered dinosaur called Spiniosaurus. Then the kids drew pictures of an imaginary dinosaur and we talked about why they gave them certain features. Afterwards Lili also recreated her dinosaur out of pattern blocks.
Seo's was a cloud eating dinosaur:
